Description:

Most philosophical traditions accept the existence of Ishvara (God), though the understanding of his nature differs across systems. However, thinkers such as the Charvaka-s hold that only what is perceived by the senses is real and therefore reject the existence of Dharma, Adharma, and Ishvara. To respond to such views, the Nyaya tradition presents strong logical arguments establishing the existence of God. In his famous work Nyayakusumanjali, the 10th-century philosopher Udayanacharya systematically refutes the objections raised against Ishvara. This five-day course, organised by Vyoma Linguistic Labs Foundation, presents the essence of the First Stabaka of Nyayakusumanjali and explains classical Nyaya arguments that establish the existence of the Supreme Being.
