Description:
The principal texts of Advaita Vedanta are the Upanishad-s, the Brahma-sutra-s and the Bhagavadgita. These three together are known as the Prasthana-traya. These texts, along with the Bhashya-s of Adi Shankaracharya contain profound and subtle philosophical doctrines. There is an established and systematic order for the study of Advaita Vedanta. To gain an entry into the Prasthana-traya, one needs to first study the Prakarana Grantha-s, introductory texts containing the fundamentals of Vedanta. This course has been designed to provide an understanding of the basic principles of Vedanta and the meanings of important technical (Paaribhashika) terms as presented in various Prakarana Grantha-s. This is meant to be undertaken even before beginning the study of the Prakarana Grantha-s themselves. The course instructor, Dr. Sathyanarayana C.T., will equip learners to build strong foundations, enabling them to undertake detailed study of the Prasthana-traya.
